Background

A series of afternoon family-friendly concerts and workshops featuring performances from well-known established artists, as well as aspiring young songwriters and musicians. Funded by Creative Ireland in partnership with Galway City Arts Office and Music Generation Galway City.

Process

Combining established artists with young and emerging artists, this series supports, inspires and develops music education performance experiences for young people across Galway City. Working with local youth work agencies as part of Music Generation’s Local Music Education Partnership, young people from underrepresented socio-economic groups were supported by experienced Musician Educators to develop performances as part of the series and to engage in inspirational performance workshops with featured artists.

Results

A series of workshops and events featuring young performers mentored by established artists such as eclectic wordsmith Steo Wall, gaeilgeoir rapper Súil Amháin, soulful singer and composer Síomha, indie-folk songwriter Niamh Regan, Congolese guitar maestro Niwel Tsumbu and percussion legend Eamonn Cagney.
