Background
A twelve-part live music series combining performances and collaborations with candid conversations shot on location in Galway city and county. The series features a mix of new and established talent, from a range of different backgrounds, traditions and cultures, and represents an exciting new approach to music television.
Process
Each episode of CUMASC features two acts selected from a range of genres and backgrounds, with pairings chosen for their collaborative potential, diversity and appeal to a musically-curious audience. The episode’s narrative revolves around how our acts collaborate and what they produce, charting the journey of the finished piece from ideation to performance.
Results
Part observational documentary, part elegant concert cinematography, CUMASC captures the spontaneous energy and creative magic in the collaborative process and presents portraits of a broad musical community that is evolving with the old and the new to produce an exciting future for Irish music.
